Kurdish political parties, civil society organizations and institutions have issued a written statement to condemn the Turkish state attack on the Maxmur Camp resulting in the death of three women.
The statement said: "All over the world, humanity is trying to protect itself against the coronavirus epidemic and prevent the spread of the virus. Governments are trying to protect their people from this disaster. However, the Turkish state sees the coronavirus outbreak as an opportunity and intensifies its attacks against the Kurdish people."
The signatories of the statement "strongly" condemned the attack that resulted in the death of three civilian women who were out gazing their animals.
"The silence of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Iraqi government and the United Nations - said the statement - encourages the Turkish state to continue its attacks. We do not accept this silence. The silence of the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government caused great criticism and reaction among the Kurdish people."
The statement also underlined that "While Maxmur Camp was attacked, tensions also increased between PDK peshmergas and PUK peshmergas in the region of Zinê Wertê. There is a danger of civil war. A war between Kurdish parties serves the targets of the occupying states, and in this process it serves in particular the Turkish state."
The statement called on "the President and Government of the Kurdistan Region: Silence and indifference to the attacks of the Turkish state is very heavy for the Kurdish people and is not acceptable. You have to react to these attacks, and it is necessary to lift the embargo on the people of the Camp."
The signatories also reminded that "our call is for the people of Kurdistan: The attack and hostility of the Turkish state does not only target the Maxmur Camp. It is aimed at the existence of the people of Kurdistan. Pople of Kurdistan in the four parts need to stand together against the attacks of the Turkish state."
