Kurdish parties forge election alliance

Representatives of five Kurdish parties met with HDP.

Five Kurdish parties, which decided to for an alliance after the AKP-MHP alliance called for early elections, visited the Peoples’ Democratic Party of Peoples (HDP) on Friday.

Kurdistan Socialist Party leader Mesut Tek (PSK), Azadi Movement spokesman Ayetullah Aşiti, Kurdistan Freedom Movement (PAC) Chairman Mustafa Ozcelik, Turkey's Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK-T) Chairman Mehmet Emin Kardeş and the Kurdistan Democratic Platform (KDP) Chairman Sertaç Bucak visited the HDP in Amed.

The delegation of Kurdish parties was welcomed at the HDP Amed Province Building in Amed by the HDP co-chair, Pervin Buldan and by Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-President Berdan Ozturk, Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-President Ahmet Turk, HDP deputies Imam Taşçıer and Nihat Akdoğan.

After the meeting, HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan made a short declaration to underlined that such a meeting is very important at a time when there are serious attacks on Kurds' achievements.

Buldan added: "We are going through a process that will determine the fate of the Kurdish people. I would especially like to mention that this visit is really meaningful in this respect. At a time when there are those who try hard to expel Kurdish people from politics, we see such alliance as an important step towards the future life and achievements of the Kurdish people”.

Buldan pointed out that “the 24 June election will be an election which will change the fate of the Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey. Therefore, it is very important to have made this meeting. The Kurdish people have suffered in many different ways for centuries. The Kurdish people have suffered heavily in this territory. However, from now on I believe that meetings like this will be instrumental for the end of the sufferings”.

Speaking after Buldan, PSK Chairman Mesut Tek, also wanted to thank the parties present at the meeting.

Reminding that the Kurdistan political parties and organizations have started a common work 3 months ago, Tek said: "On 2 May, we shared the text explaining the Kurdistan election alliance with the public opinion. Today we met with the friends from HDP. Undoubtedly, we will continue to work until we get results. We hope that these common work will yield results. As Pervin Buldan said, - Tek added - the Kurds have reached such a broad consensus for the first time in their history. Our efforts will continue in this direction".

After the short speeches, the meeting continued behind closed doors. Following the meeting, Buldan her delegation were going to meet with the Rights and Freedoms Party (HAK-PAR).
