Mortar attack in Kirkuk

Unknown assailants targeted an Iraqi army base with mortar fire in Kurdistan neighbourhood in Kirkuk.

According to locals a mortar hit near an Iraqi army base in Kirkuk. The round fell in front of a local shop and caused no death or injuries.

Edrasiyaw Kamil, a spokesperson for Kirkuk police, said that the shop which was affected by the mortar attack is very close to an army base and an investigation has been launched by authorities.

Kirkuk was invaded by Hashd al-Shaabi forces in October. Since then frequent attacks in Kirkuk and neighbouring towns targeted Iraqi forces.
