Once again, Dersim is burning while intervention is prevented

The forest fires under the guise of “operations” have raged on for months. The people want to intervene by their own means but are prevented by the state forces.

Dozens of hectares of forests have been destroyed in the Dersim region due to the Turkish army’s operations. The natural landscape in Dersim is facing absolute destruction due to bombings excused by the Governorate claiming there are “operations in place”. The locals who set out to intervene with the fires that raged on for days were not allowed through. All entry to and exit from areas with occasional fires still burning have been banned. According to local sources, the “long field region” near the Pülümür Valley has been on fire for 2 days straight.

PEOPLE PREVENTED FROM INTERVENING

The Hakis Region in the Nazimiye side was reportedly bombed from the air last night and fires broke out as a result of the bombing. The Dersim city center was covered in smog due to the fire. The Directorate of Forestry has not intervened while the people were prevented from using their own means to put the fire out once again because it was in the “operation grounds”.
