The Turkish army is continuing its operations and attacks against guerrillas despite the ongoing position of inaction by the Kurdish movement.

While the operations in Hakkari and Bingöl continue expanding, so do the bombardments in Binbir area of Hakkari's Yüksekova district.

Turkish military forces launched an operation in the area surrounding the villages of Xıçok, Xeznave, Çirajorê, Karahamza and Çiyayê Şerefdini in Bingöl's Karlıova district on October 20. While the operation was retreated inconclusively, some troops remain in the area, laying ambushes.

People's Defense Forces Press Office (HPG-BIM) reported in a written statement that operations of the Turkish army are going on uninterruptedly, mainly in Hakkari and Bingöl areas, since the declaration of inaction by the KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union).

Guerrillas conducted an action against Turkish troops participating an operation between Hakkari's Şemdinli district and Şapatan guard post at 09:30 on October 20. Eight soldiers were killed as guerrillas targeted an armored vehicle in the area.

Following a clash between guerrillas and soldiers that came to the scene for intervention, which lasted till 11:30, soldiers left their arms and munitions in the area and fled.

Guerrillas also hit and damaged a Sikorsky type helicopter that came to the scene for intervention after the clash. Casualties of the Turkish troops were taken to Şemdinli state hospital which was therewith closed for entry from outside.

The operation and activity of Turkish jets in Binbir area of Hakkari's Yüksekova district is also going on as Turkish forces continue launching bombardments against the area with howitzer, mortar and tank fire.

At 19:00 on October 19, a guerrilla team targeted the police station and district governor's office in Hakkari's Çukurca district as a warning action in retaliation for the attacks against Medya Defense Zones. While the outcomes of the action couldn't be verified, guard posts in the area shelled the Soradanê village terrain with howitzer, mortar and tank fire.

ONE GUERRILLA MARTYRED IN AIRSTRIKES ON GUERRILLA ZONES

A guerrilla by the name of Ruken Jiyan (Ayşe Sincar) who had suffered a heavy injury as a result of Turkish airstrikes against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in September, has died of her wounds.
