People’s Defense Forces (HPG) Press Office reported that operations and attacks by the Turkish army continue ceaselessly despite the maintained position of inaction by guerrillas since October 10.

Remarking that the Turkish army operation at the border of Avashin area in guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones continues, HPG said Turkish troops attempted to infiltrate into the area of Hill Martyr Rahime at 12:00 on October 24, upon which they were targeted by guerrillas with effective hits. While clashes between two sides continued interruptedly, Turkish army shelled the scene with howitzers and mortars and performed reconnaissance flights over the area.

Turkish jets bombed Martyr Gafur and Martyr Rahime areas between 15:30-16:00 on October 24.

Grana guard post at the border of Hakkari's Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district shelled Govendê area between 11:30-00:00 on October 24.

Hill Sivri guard post affiliated to Bezelê post shelled Hill Martyr Süleyman area between 07.00 - 08.00 and 19.00 – 22.00.

Oremar guard post shelled Hill Marty Gafur with howitzer, mortar and tank fire between 12.00 – 13.00 and from 22:00 till the morning of October 25.

Turkish aircraft also performed reconnaissance flights over the area as of 12:00 on October 24.

HAKKARİ

HPG informed that the Turkish army operation in Bindir area of Hakkari's Yüksekova district also continues.

One Sikorsky helicopter from Yüksekova headed towards the Mizgeftê area at the border of Xakurkê area in Medya Defense Zones at 15:30 on October 24.

After being hit and damaged by guerrillas upon entering the PKK-held zones, the helicopter was forced to retreat back to Yüksekova, after which Turkish jets shelled Kure Mızgeftê area.

ŞIRNAK

HPG said Beytüşşebap district governor Kadir Güntepe from Yozgat, who was appointed for the duty one and a half month ago, is coordinating the military operation in Germav and Bılbesi areas and acting with special operation police forces, while on the other hand putting pressure on the people living in the region.

According to the HPG statement, the operation launched by Turkish army in Mawa area on October 21 was participated by 5 thousand soldiers and involved the areas of Batman's Hasankeyf region as well as the villages of Guhara, Avtê, Cefani, Tinê and Beleki in Siirt's Kurtalan district.

HPG said Turkish soldiers entered and demolished the Marty Kendal Cemetery of guerrillas on October 22. While the intense activity of Turkish troops in the area continued, a clash erupted between soldiers and guerrillas who conducted an action in response to the attacks on cemeteries of martyrs. While the casualties left by the action couldn't be verified, the operation was retreated at 00:00 on October 23 evening.

AMED

Troops at Hegasor guard post in Amed's Hani district have uninterruptedly shelled the Hill Cahit and surrounding areas for the last two days.

Beyazçeşme, Sındıre and Berik guard posts in Amed's Lice district have on the other hand shelled the areas of Gorse, Tepê Mecin, Muçkula and Tirejman with howitzer and mortar fire. Soldiers have in the meantime blocked all the ways leading to the area.

ONGOING BOMBARDMENTS AGAINST GUERRILLA AREAS

HPG stated that Turkish jets have shelled the Hill Cembeli area at the border to Zap region of guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones between 22.00 – 22.30 on October 23. The area was also targeted by simultaneous bombardments from the ground.

Serêsevê guard post at Zap border shelled the areas of Srnê and Sevê villages between 22.00 - 23.00 on October 24.

Elemun guard post at Metina border shelled Zendura area between 12.30 - 19.30 on October 24.

On the other hand, Serbesta guard post shelled Hill Kure Şino and foothills with howitzer and mortar fire between 15.00 – 21.00 the same day.
