Over 80 people detained in Batman

More than 80 people have been detained following house raids in Batman city center and Sason and Kozluk districts.

Police forces raided a number of houses in Batman's city center and Heznê, Kurêrê, Reşe Darê, Seyrantepe and Zengavi villages in Sason and Kozluk districts early Tuesday morning.

More than 80 people were detained in the operation and taken to Sason district where the investigation against detainees was launched by Sason Public Prosecutor's Office.

A confidentiality order was imposed on the file of the investigation and the detainees will reportedly be denied access to lawyers for 5 days.

The detainees include HDP and DBP executives as well as DBP Party Assembly member Mehmet Candemir who was among the 50 participants of the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike started in Amed recently demanding urgent access to Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
