As the curfew and onslaught continues for the eight uninterrupted day in Derik district of Mardin, Cevizpınar neighborhood is one of the five areas where attacks by state forces intensify.

Residents of Cevizpınar neighborhood spoke to ANF about the ongoing attacks, to which they respond with resistance.

Tuğba Abik: I am calling upon all the youths to stand by the people of Derik. We will not leave our neighborhoods. The attacks of the state aim to make us leave our land but do not intimidate us.

Nazmiye Sinanoğlu: Attacks are getting heavier over the past several days. Still, we will remain in our lands whether we die or remain alive. This is our land, and it is those attacking us that must leave this place. People remain in their houses and none of them is leaving home. We demand that the state end its aggression on us. Our choice is clear, which is self-rule with our own language and culture. We will never give up on this demand.

Nazmiye Gür: We are living in severe circumstances under curfew for over a week now, yet we are not leaving our houses and neighborhoods. We will remain in our lands.

Ferhat Açar: We demand an end to the attacks of state forces. An army of soldiers and police are attacking us and firing on our houses. What does this state want from us? What is their aim with these attacks? Yet, we will never leave our home and we will die here, if they happen to kill us. We are ready for death but we will never give up on our freedom. The state cannot achieve a result by launching this onslaught against us, and it will end up recognising the will and decision of the Kurdish people.
