Local people's protests continue in Shengal [Sinjar] district in Southern Kurdistan [Northern Iraq], where the invading Turkish state has been carrying out genocidal attacks.
Residents of Shengal, as well as members of local institutions and councils visited the YBŞ-YJŞ [Shengal Resistance Units -Shengal Women’s Units] center in the Khanasor town and made a statement on Monday.
Reading out the statement on behalf of the visitors, Semir Derwiş defined Turkish President Erdogan as “the head of the gangs” and declared their determination to resist the occupation of their lands.
'WE STAND BEHIND OUR FORCES'
The statement said: "Once again, fascist chief Erdogan is conducting invasion attacks and uttering threats against Shengal. As the Yazidi people, we are not afraid of their attacks and threats. We will stand behind our defense forces until the end. Erdogan is seeking to renew the Ottoman dream, but we will not let this dream come true in our land."
'SHENGAL IS A FORTRESS OF RESISTANCE'
Dijwar Feqîr, one of the YBŞ commanders, said that they will continue to defend the people in the face of all kinds of attacks. Feqir emphasised that, “There are allegations of imminent attacks on Shengal. Our people's attitude towards threats is sacred. Our attitude towards any attack targeting our people is clear. Shengal is a fortress of resistance, whoever tries to invade our lands will face the self-sacrificing Yazidi forces”.
Feqîr said, "If there is an attack, the Yazidi people are aware that there will be no discrimination between civilians and military forces. Therefore, the attitude of our people comes to the fore".
The people gathered in front of the YBŞ headquarters chanted the slogans "Bijî berxwedana Şengalê" [Long live Shengal resistance] "Bijî berxwedana YBŞ" û "YJŞ" [Long live the YBŞ/YJŞ resistance].
