PKK prisoners in Diyarbakır D Type Prison have started a two-day hunger strike to protest the massacres perpetrated as part of the war waged by the AKP government. The prisoners who announced their strike through their families, stated that their protest will go on in various forms as long as the attacks by the state continue.

The reason for the hunger strike was announced by the prisoners as AKP's response to the PKK's declaration of inaction with war, murder of 8 PKK guerrillas in cease-fire position in Lice, and massacre in Ankara of over a hundred people for democracy and peace.

'OUR PEOPLE ARE BEING MASSACRED'

PKK prisoners said Ankara incident has been the peak point of the war concept that was initiated in Amed with June 5 bombing and continued in Suruç, Varto, Cizre, Beytüşşebap, Silopi, Nusaybin, Silvan, Sur and Lice towns of Kurdistan all of which witnessed a massacre of civilians; women, youths and elders all alike.

Stressing that the AKP ruling, which has arbitrarily ignored all human values for the last 13 years, has become an unbearable savagery within the last two months, the statement said; "No single person should sit back and watch this fascism. We as PKK prisoners in Diyarbakır D Type Prison are going on two-day hunger strike to protest the massacres and policies of the AKP state. We announce that we will enhance our protest in various forms as long as these practices by the state continue."
