Thousands of people have gathered at Koşuyolu Park in Amed to march to Sur in protest against the ongoing siege and onslaught by state forces in the district.

Demonstrators led by DBP and HDP provincial organisations were attacked by police forces with tear gas and water cannons soon after the beginning of the march.

As attacks by police forces intensified, youths built up barricades and started self-defense at many points around Ofis and Koşuyolu area.

A number of anti-riot and armored vehicles have been dispatched to the area as the brutal crackdown by police continues in Ofis. People remain on the streets and resist despite heavy attacks by Turkish forces.

One youth has reportedly got wounded as a result of the police attack.
