Following house searches in the Kurdish city of Yüksekova and the surrounding villages of Bilindbasan and Birdik, five people were arrested under terrorism laws on Sunday.
On Sunday, Turkish police stormed several houses in the town of Yüksekova (Gever) and the surrounding villages of Bilindbasan and Birdik in the province of Hakkari (Colemêrg).
Five people were arrested and taken to the Yüksekova Police Headquarters for interrogation and then to the Prosecutor's Office. They are accused of "helping and housing members of a terrorist organization".
In the run-up to the elections on 14 May, arrest operations against the democratic opposition in North Kurdistan and Turkey began, only to increase after Erdoğan's victory in the run-off election, on 28 May.
Since then, police units have been storming the houses of the opposition on almost a daily basis, carrying out dozens of arrests.
