A tribute to guerrilla Hogir Amed
Martyr Hogir fulfilled every mission in the guerrilla and gave his life so that the children of Kurdistan could live free.
Martyr Hogir fulfilled every mission in the guerrilla and gave his life so that the children of Kurdistan could live free.
The cradle of humanity, Kurdistan, is under the occupation of tyrants and their collaborators today. Yet, there are also brave souls who resist the oppressors and stand up for Kurdistan, those who fight and struggle for its freedom. These courageous fighters are on the mountains of Kurdistan, waging a struggle for humanity and for the liberation of their homeland.
Hogir Amed (Savaş Bilgi), born in 1997 on the sacred soil of Kurdistan, was one of these brave fighters. He was born in Licê, the heartland of patriotism in Northern Kurdistan (Bakur), and grew up surrounded by the painful stories of the Kurdish people. With time, he came to understand the truth of the Kurdish cause more deeply, and his anger toward the enemy intensified. Choosing the path of resistance, he rose up against the enemies of the Kurdish people and the occupying Turkish state. Each time a guerrilla was martyred, young Kurds like Hogir would grow more defiant, refusing to accept this reality. For him, silence meant death; truth meant devoting himself to the mountains of Kurdistan.
In 2013, Comrade Hogir made his decision and set out for the mountains of Kurdistan. From that moment on, Hogir became a guerrilla of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement. His dreams had come true, he had reached the cradle of freedom. With a small smile and great hope, he began a long and arduous journey in search of truth across the high and rugged mountains. He first took part in the struggle in the Amed (Diyarbakır) region, and shortly after, he moved to Southern Kurdistan (Başur). There, in the region of Heftanin, he received his guerrilla training. Upon completing his education, he was deployed to practical fields. In every duty he took on, Comrade Hogir became a source of inspiration to his comrades through his self-sacrifice and warmth. With high morale and unwavering commitment, he led his fellow fighters in every task and operation.
His heart always beat for freedom
In 2014, ISIS mercenaries launched brutal attacks on Rojava. Comrade Hogir refused to accept these barbaric assaults and, upon his own request, crossed into Rojava to join the historic resistance. He fought with unmatched courage against ISIS, putting his life on the line so that children in Rojava could live their dreams of freedom. Hogir knew exactly what kind of life these children were enduring. As a child himself, he suffered the same oppression that children in Rojava faced because of the occupying Turkish state. After Rojava was liberated from ISIS, Hogir returned once again to the Medya Defense Zones.
Comrade Hogir was no stranger to the mountains. Every rock and forest reminded him of the times he had spent with his fallen comrades. These memories filled him with both joy and sorrow. In 2021, the Turkish army launched an invasion operation targeting the Medya Defense Zones. Alongside his comrades, Hogir took part in the defense of Kurdistan’s soil against the occupying Turkish army. In this war, he played a vital role and became one of the many fighters remembered for sacrificing their lives for their homeland. In every moment of his life, he carried the memories of his martyred comrades in his heart. He knew that honoring the martyrs meant honoring President Öcalan. Hogir Amed had always made it a principle to walk the path of President Öcalan’s philosophy. This is why he fulfilled every duty entrusted to him with great success.
Finally, in 2024, when the Turkish army launched another wave of invasion attacks in the region of Metîna, Comrade Hogir, with a deep sense of revolutionary responsibility, moved to Metîna. With military discipline, he took part in every action against the enemy. On August 22, while on duty with his comrade Ronî Ciwanro, he was ambushed by the enemy and fell as a martyr. The children of Kurdistan will follow in the footsteps of Martyr Hogir, who gave his life for them. Hogir will forever live in the hearts of every Kurdish child.
