Public servants continue protests in Southern Kurdistan

Kurdish public servants led by teachers continue to protest the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) for its failure to pay the salaries.

The protestors organized a demonstration in front of the courthouse in Sulaymaniyah city center and blocked the main road to Kirkuk.

There were also demonstrations in Raniyah and Koya towns. Public servants demanded from KRG to abandon austerity measures.

Salaries for KRG employees have been plagued by delays since 2014 and Kurdish authorities have repeatedly said they cannot make payments due to the economic and security crises affecting the region.
