PUK member Ferman: Turkey seeks to expand its borders through invasion

A member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bilêse Cebar Ferman said that the Kurdistan Region of Iraq is facing a major threat since “Turkey seeks to expand its borders through invasion.”

Turkey's attacks on Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn regions of the Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan (North Iraq), launched on April 17 in cooperation of the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), are continuing. Interviewed by Rojnews about the Turkish attacks, Bilêse Cebar Ferman, one of the key politicians of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), stated that the region is facing a major threat aggravated by the fragmented situation between the Kurdish parties. “The fragmented political situation among the Kurds helps the Turkish state expand its occupation in the Kurdistan Region,” the Kurdish politician warned.

Ferman emphasized that the Kurdish public should be informed about the Turkish invasion, saying, “The recent attacks pose serious threats not only to the Kurdistan Region but also to Iraq. The purpose is to invade Iraq and to expand Turkey's soil. As the PUK, we endorse all other parts of Kurdistan to obtain their rights. We will continue to pursue these policies.”
