Religious scholars and members of the Qadiri Tarikat (Religious Order) from Southern Kurdistan visited Qandil to condemn the Turkish state's attacks on Medya Defense Zones and to express solidarity with guerrillas.
The delegation was welcomed by KCK Faith Committee member Cihan Eren, after which they paid a visit to the Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery of Martyrs.
Speaking on behalf of the KCK Faith Committee, Eren stated that: “As guerrilla forces, we gain strength and will from this visit, and we attribute a meaning to it. The mission of national unity is on the shoulder of religious scholars as well. You should enhance your call and efforts toward Kurdish national congress.”
Speaking after, Religious Scholars and Democratic Congress member Nadir Ali called upon Muslim countries to adopt a stance against the Turkish state's attacks on cemeteries, and put emphasis on the importance of urgent steps for Kurdish national congress.
Religious scholars joining the visit to Qandil stated the followings:
Mamoste Wirya from South Loristan: The attacks targeting the sacred places and poor people of Kurdistan is trampling on all the principles of the Quran, Sunna and Islamic sharia. We therefore call upon the governments, political parties, intellectuals and Southern Kurdistan people to end their silence against the attacks, and to manifest a national and patriotic attitude.
Mele Ali on behalf of Martyr Rüstem Cudi Camp: Just like the Ba'ath regime attacked the people of Southern Kurdistan, the Turkish state is attacking the people and history of Kurdistan under the name of Islam. Just like the ISIS gangs are attacking and destroying mosques as in the case of Nabi Yunis mosque in Mosul, the Turkish state is attacking the Kurdish people with the same mentality.
Latif Abdullah on behalf of the Qadiri Tarikat: We gathered in Qandil to show that the Kurdish people are not afraid of their enemies. The Kurdish people have always paid prices to attain their rights, and they are ready to do the same now as well.
Niyaz Rehfet from Binare Qandil: The presence of Turkish troops on the lands of Kurdistan has never been approved. The Kurdish people, young and old alike, must adopt a stance against the attacks. The religious scholars in the first place should warn the people against the presence of Turkish troops in Kurdistan territory.
