Residents of Qandil condemn the attacks of the Turkish state

Residents of Binarê Qandil area condemned the airstrikes carried out by Turkish jets on Qandil region of Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory.

Turkish army has once again shelled the Qandil area of Medya Defense Zones with fighter jets yesterday. Wednesday's airstrikes have once again targeted the area between Pirdeshal and Zergelê villages of Qandil, which affected the civilian residential areas and the power lines transforming electricity to the Binarê Qandil area were cut. The power cut in many villages in Binarê Qandil area continues since yesterday.

Residents of Binarê Qandil gathered in the Pirdeshal village today afternoon and made a press statement condemning the Turkish airstrikes.

"THE TURKISH STATE CANNOT SCARE US"

Co-mayors of Qandil, Mihamed Hesen and Emine Mihemed Ebdullah held a speech after one minute's silence in memory of those martyred in the freedom struggle.

Mihamed Hesen condemned the Turkish airstrikes targeting the Binarê Qandil area for two years now, saying: "Turkish jets are bombarding the cemeteries of martyrs, schools and civilian residential areas. The Turkish state cannot scare the people of Qandil with these attacks.”

Hesen recalled that Pêshmergeyi Derin, Bashur (South) Kurdistan Youth's Movement and Women's Movement representatives had previously come to Qandil to voice their support for Qandil and to condemn the attacks of the occupant Turkish state, adding: "Bashur Kurdistan's people will continue to support the freedom struggle waged in Qandil and other parts of Kurdistan."

"ERDOĞAN WILL FAIL"

Hesen touched upon the referendum to be held in Turkey on April 16, stressing that Erdoğan wanted to perpetuate his dictatorship through this referendum, but he would fail.

Hesen continued, calling upon the Kurdistan Regional Government and political authorities to adopt a stance against the Turkish state's aggression and invasion against the lands of Southern Kurdistan.

Speaking after, Emine Mihemed Ebdullah underlined that they would not abandon Qandil no matter how intense attacks they may face. She called on the Kurdish people to unite against the occupant attacks of the Turkish state.

Turkish warplanes bombarded the Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery of Martyrs in Qandil area on February 17, and the surroundings of Pirdashal and Zergelê villages in Binarê Qandil area yesterday.
