Seven soldiers of the Turkish army were killed and one position of the invading forces was destroyed, according to the daily statement by the press centre of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) providing information about the ongoing war in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
The guerrilla actions listed in the statement were concentrated in the resistance areas of Girê Amêdî, Girê Hekarî and Girê Cûdî in the Metîna region. On 2 September, a mobile guerrilla unit struck a Turkish squad at Girê Amêdî with heavy weapons. On 6 September, five soldiers were killed in an action by guerrillas at Girê Hekarî. In the same area, the guerrillas destroyed a Turkish army position on Wednesday, killing two soldiers. Also on Wednesday, two more guerrilla actions were directed at Turkish troops at Girê Amêdî and Girê Cûdî.
Regarding the latest attacks by the Turkish army, HPG reported that four sorties with prohibited weapons were carried out against guerrilla positions in Girê Cûdî and Girê FM areas on the previous day. The Golka area in Metîna was bombed four times by fighter jets, while Girê Hekarî and Girê FM were shelled dozens of times by howitzers. Today, 24 attacks by attack helicopters targeted the areas of Kurojahro, Girê Amêdî, Girê FM and Girê Cûdî.
