Hüseyin Turhan, shot by the police in a hospital in Cizre, has lost his eye in the hospital where he receives medical treatment.
Hüseyin Turhan was detained and taken to a hospital in Şırnak’s Cizre district on June 13. Turhan was shot by the police in the hospital, and sent to the Dicle University Hospital for extensive treatment. The officer who shot Turhan stated that his ‘the safety of his Kalashnikov was off and the shooting happened by accident,’ and Turhan is kept in the intensive care unit so that doctors can remove the bullets in his hip, stomach and eye. So far, Turhan has lost his left eye because of the police attack.
'WE HAVE NO SAFETY OF LIFE'
Turhan’s aunt Muazzez Gelegele stated that they had no safety of life and the police never turned on the safety of their guns in Cizre. Gelegele said that everyone was afraid to walk in the streets in Cizre, and they would file a complaint regarding the officer that shot her nephew but were sure that there would be no consequences because the state would not prosecute an officer at a time when it burns tens of people alive in basements in the district.
