Institutions and associations affiliated with the Shengal Autonomous Administration commemorated the martyrs of Sinunê.
KDP’s intelligence service Parastin and a group affiliated with the Turkish intelligence service MIT targeted the Sinunê People's Assembly on June 15, 2022. A 12-year-old teen named Selah and a person named İbrahim Derwêş Ebdi were martyred, and 6 other people were injured in the attack. One of those injured was MIT member Selah Berçes, who could not get out of the assembly office on time.
Those arrested in an operation carried out by the Special Units affiliated with the Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) against the MIT-Parastin group confessed that they had taken part in many attacks, including the attack on the Sinunê People's Assembly. They stated that the attack in question was carried out to provoke the local people to rise against the Autonomous Administration of Shengal.
Institutions and associations affiliated with the Shengal Autonomous Administration commemorated the martyrs with candles and flowers in an event marking the anniversary of the attack today.
In a speech on behalf of the Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement (TAJÊ), Şemê Remo revealed that they gathered in the Sinunê Assembly today to convey the message that no matter how furious the enemy attacks are, they will not break the will of the Shengal people. Remo said: “We offer our condolences to the families of the martyrs. The enemy will not achieve its goal through these attacks. We are proud of our martyrs, and we will achieve victory by following in the footsteps of our martyrs. We are continuing our activities with the inspiration we take from the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for us.”
Sinunê People's Assembly Co-Chair Sido Ali emphasized that the enemy sought to alienate the people from the assembly. He said: “The assembly was attacked for this reason, but we continued our work with even more strength. As the Sinunê People's Assembly, we insist that no one can stand against us, and we will continue to fight in the footsteps of our martyrs. We know that some political parties cooperate with the Turkish state and attack our leaders. However, everyone should know that anyone who dares to attack the institutions of the Autonomous Administration will be punished sooner or later.”
After the speeches, candles were lit, and flowers were placed at the massacre site in remembrance of the martyrs.
