Southern Kurdistani parties call on the UN to act for Afrin

In a statement about the Turkish state’s invasion operation against Afrin, Southern Kurdistani parties called on the United Nations and international community to go into action.

Political parties in Southern Kurdistan released statements protesting the invasion operation started by the invading Turkish state against Afrin with the support of Russia.

The statements by Gorran (Change) Movement and Coalition for Democracy and Justice founded by Berhem Salih condemned the invasion attempt and called upon the United Nations (UN) and international community to go into action.

GORAN: WE ARE WITH THE PEOPLE OF AFRIN

Gorran Movement condemned the invasion operation by Turkey and said the following; “Afrin Canton is under the attack of Turkish state and some affiliated groups. As Gorran Movement, we condemn all kinds of attacks. We call for these attacks to stop immediately and doors for dialogue to be opened. We repeat our call to the United Nations, international community and global anti-ISIS coalition to go into action in order for these attacks to stop immediately. These attacks target hundreds of thousands of people in Afrin. The silence of international community in the face of the attacks will legitimize the violation of human rights. Children of this people have fought against ISIS gangs and terrorism in the very front lines and suffered great losses. As Gorran Movement, we stand with the legitimate rights of Afrin people.”

“TURKISH STATE SHOULD STOP ITS ATTACKS”

The Coalition for Democracy and Justice said the following in its related statement; “The Turkish state should not attack Afrin or any other region in Rojava, and utilize its power against ISIS, not the brave fighters who have been leading the fight against ISIS. Recognizing and respecting the rights of Kurdish people in Rojava is the true way to lead to peace and security. Kurdish fighters have cleared their territories of terror. In this sense, international community should act with responsibility and stop Turkey’s attacks.”
