In the province of Şırnak where demolition continues amid an ongoing curfew in place since March 14, state forces are now evacuating the people from the tents they set up on the periphery of the city after getting displaced by the attacks of state forces during the self-rule resistance.
The tents put up by some of the families in the TOKİ housing area just in the entrance of the city were surrounded by the police and the soldiers earlier today. The police and soldiers surrounded the tents with armored vehicles and water cannons and demanded the families pick up their tents and leave. When they refused, the police forcibly removed the families, along with children and the elderly, from the tents.
Hundreds of people have been displaced once again in the evening as their tents are being pulled down by police and military forces of the state. The people are waiting in their demolished living area.
HDP MP Aycan İrmez who managed to get to the scene after a long while told the followings: “I am in Kumçatı area at the moment. There are 41 families here, all of them with many members. Their tents are being pulled down and they have nowhere to go. The city has been demolished by 80 percent already and entrance into the city is still banned. These people found shelter in these tents which have also been demolished now. State forces are removing the tents in other villages as well. This is nothing but tyranny. Where will these people stay and live now? There is no alternative offered to them.”
