State forces raze Nusaybin's historic Kanîka neighborhood to the ground

Turkish 'security forces' have razed to the ground the Kanîka neighborhood, the first settlement of Nusaybin which houses remains from the School of Nisibis, the first university known on the world.

The Kanîka neighborhood in Mardin's Nusaybin district, which was largely demolished by state forces during months of popular resistance against state terror, has been razed to the ground in the wake of the savage onslaught. The neighborhood also houses remains from the School of Nisibis, the oldest university on the world, which borders Rojava's Qamishlo city.

All the houses in the historic settlement have been demolished by state forces that entered the neighborhood with heavy construction equipment and surrounded it with wire fences after the withdrawal of Civilian Defense Units (YPS) months ago.

The rubbles of the demolished areas are being taken outside the district with trucks.

State forces also continue the destruction of the undamaged houses on Lozan Street side of the neighborhood one by one.
