The issue of cut backs and late payments in salaries that has continued since 2015 in Southern Kurdistan continues still. Teachers who can’t receive their salaries have decided to go on a 12-day general strike in Sulaymaniyah, Derbêndîxan, Halabja, Kelar Koyê and Teqteq. The teachers on strike held protests on the streets.
The teachers on strike issued a statement and said they decided to go on a strike between November 1 and 12. The statement also called on the new government to be formed to remove the Regional Education Minister from duty.
