The HPG Press Center issued a statement to pay tribute to commander Cesur Azad (Edip Temiz). The statement said: “Comrade Cesur Azad was a leading commander. He fell as a martyr following an enemy attack that took place on 1 December 2022. We promise that we will protect the memory of our fallen commander, an irreplaceable revolutionary. We promise that we will increase his struggle and we will develop the work to which he devoted his whole life and make it the basis of our revolution towards victory. We extend our condolences to the family of our esteemed comrade, our patriotic people of Mardin and all the people of Kurdistan.”

Our people in Mêrdîn live the awareness of Kurdishness, language and culture very vividly, and have always set an example in their commitment to their social identity and country. With the emergence of the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, the people of Mardin followed the ideas of leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan].
The HPG continued: “Our comrade, Cesur, was brave, as his name says. He struggled and worked tirelessly for many years. We reiterate the promise to our brave comrade who fell as a martyr in an enemy attack while returning from a mission on 1 December 2022."
