Preparations are underway for worldwide rallies on November 1 World Kobanê Day.

The Kobanê town of Rojava, West Kurdistan, which has witnessed an unprecedented battle and resistance against the attacks of ISIS gangs since last year, has now become a a glimmer of hope for the Middle East peoples with the democratic building system it is leading in the Syrian territory.

On 14 September 2014, Kobanê Canton became the target of anti-human ISIS gangs that made a great effort to turn the Middle East into a blood bath with the support of regional reactionary states and imperialist powers. This savage organisation which encircled the town on the basis of a plan for a big massacre, faced an unexpected resistance.

After occupying a large part of Iraq and Syria, the gangs intended to suppress the people of Rojava who, however, frustrated all their plans and defeated them under the leadership of YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defense Units).

Embracing all the peoples in Kobanê and other cantons of Rojava regardless of their race, religion, culture and language, YPG/YPJ forces soon gained recognition as 'freedom fighters' by not only Syrian peoples but all around the world.

Kurdish women, who took it as a betrayal to surrender to the ISIS that attacked Kobanê with all their heavy weapons, became the symbol for the freedom of women by refusing to leave their emplacements and fighting to the end at the cost of their lives.

We hereby share some photos from Kobanê which also witnessed migration, pain and victory as it became the castle of resistance in Rojava, Syria and the Middle East.
