Weekly Hewal newspaper in Southern Kurdistan published important information in their 681st and 683rd issues regarding the intelligence efforts of the Turkish state and the assassinations they have planned in Southern Kurdistan.
Hewal based their news stories on authorities in the security forces and claimed that the Turkish state was planning assassinations in Kirkuk, Bashiqa and Shengal through special units they have formed, and that the 2 peshmerga fighters claimed to have been shot by the PKK in Shengal on October 2 were in fact shot by these special units.
“THE INTELLIGENCE IS GATHERED IN COLLABORATION WITH TURKMENS AND SOME KURDISH PARTIES”
According to Hewal’s news story, the intelligence efforts of the units formed by the Turkish state focus in Kirkuk, Xurmatu and Dakuk.
The newspaper claims similar efforts are underway in Bashika in Mosul, Tel Afar and Shengal as well.
The news stories are based on anonymous sources in the security forces and include the following information:
“The Turkish state is carrying out intelligence efforts in Kirkuk, Dakuk and Xurmatu with the help of some Turkmen and some Kurdish parties against some other Kurdish parties. They have set up several units for these activities. These units gather intelligence on parties as well as the activities of intellectuals. The activities of these units include creating tension among different ethnicities in Kirkuk. To this end, some prominent figures in the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITF) will support this with the statements they will make. For example, ITF MP Erşet Salihi’s comments on the PKK were made with this goal in mind.
The Turkish state is trying to increase Turkish influence over the Turkmens and aims to force the PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) to change their current policies.”
“PKK WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MURDERS TO BE COMMITTED”
The newspaper also claims that: “PKK will also be held responsible for the Sunni Arabs, Turkmens and Êzidîs to be killed in provocative actions in Bashiqa, Tel Afar and Shengal and this will be used as an excuse for an operation against the PKK in these regions.”
The news story claims the two peshmerga fighters claimed to have been killed by the PKK in Shengal in early October were actually killed by these special units to this end and says, “The Turkish state will hold the PKK responsible for the murders they themselves commit against the Sunnis in these areas.”
