District Governor Serdar Karal had been as trustee to Özalp municipality in Van in September by the Turkish Ministry of the Interior. Karal was reappointed as Artvin Governorate Legal Counsel and replaced by Uluca District Governor Ferhat Vardar .
Özalp District Governor Serdar Karal was appointed as trustee to DBP’s Özalp Municipality on September 11 by the Ministry of the Interior. In the 3 months since, Karal almost never left the District Governor’s Mansion and had strict security in place.
When AKP members complained to the headquarters about Karal, who was having trouble implementing their demands legally, he was replaced with another trustee. AKP members are known to demand new tenders and worker recruitment from the trustee.
The Ministry of the Interior assessed the AKP members’ reaction and appointed a trustee to Serdar Karal with the first available decree. Karal was exiled to Artvin Governorate Legal Counsel and Uluca District Governor Ferhat Vardar was appointed as trustee in his place.
