Military operations and attacks of the Turkish army continue since Mount Tendürek, located between Doğubayazıt and Diyadin districts of Ağrı, was declared a “special security zone” on 24 May 2017.
A large number of soldiers and village guards deployed in the hamlet of Ket in Diyadin’s Taşkesen (Taşkesand) village are shelling Mount Tendürek with howitzer and mortar fire. The attack mainly targets Kanispi Highland, Girê Nêrîya and Mêrg Pelexê areas.
Guerrilla forces had inflicted heavy blows on Turkish troops during summer months, after which the Turkish state declared the region a “prohibited zone”.
