Turkish warplanes have bombarded Qandil region of guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory last night.

Airstrikes targeted the areas where civilian people live, which greatly damaged the nature, civilian houses and cemeteries in and around the villages of Enzê, Pirdeşalê and Kalatuka between 20:00 and 23:00 yesterday.

Local people living in the mentioned villages strongly criticised the governments of South Kurdistan and Iraq for remaining silent on Turkish bombardments on their lands.

The cemetery of Pirdeşal village was also hit and damaged by the aerial attacks.

The strikes targeting the surroundings of Enzê village similarly demolished some houses and a school.

Local resident Nevzat Mahmut whose house also got damaged pointed out that ceaseless bombardments by Turkish jets are repeatedly targeting civilian settlements and causing damages on the houses, fields and animals of villagers.

Nevzat Mahmut told the followings regarding last night's attacks; "Turkish warplanes bombed our village at around 9 p.m. The bombardment harmed and affected the local people as many of them suffered material damages. The Turkish state downed a Russian jet for approaching its airspace for several seconds. Yet, Turkish jets are bombing civilians in Bashurê (Southern) Kurdistan for months; and both the regional and the central government remain silent on this aggression. They must break this silence."
