Tevgera Azadî (Freedom Movement) released a statement about the assassination of Kurdish civilian Hüseyin Arasan, who was killed in Sulaymaniyah, South Kurdistan [North Iraq] on June 9.
Arasan had been living in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for some time due to political persecution in Turkey and was a member of the Mesopotamia Workers’ Association (KKM). He will be buried at the Mehmet Karasungur war cemetery in Qandil today.
Tevgera Azadî criticized security forces for remaining indifferent to the murder of Kurds and refugees who demand freedom. It emphasized that this unsteady situation was far away from national and humanitarian responsibilities and Kurdishness.
“Our social morals should not allow attacks under this government against people who seek refugee in South Kurdistan just because of their Kurdish identity and ideas,” Tevgera Azadî said.
“The silence and action of political parties, human rights organisations and the United Nations in the face of this incident is a sign of the deterioration of political and human morals. For this reason, we call on relevant authorities and all those demanding freedom to fulfill their responsibilities and to stop the Turkish state terror in South Kurdistan,” the statement remarked.
Offering condolences to the family and friends of Hüseyin Arasan, Tevgera Azadî added: “We send our apologies over the fact that South Kurdistan is not a safe place for the free Kurds.”
