The press center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) has announced the names of two guerrillas who died in the course of the Turkish invasion of the Medya Defense Zones. Pirdoğan Amed was wounded in combat in Avashin and later succumbed to his injuries, and Şoreş Botan died in a Turkish bombardment in the Zap region.

According to the HPG statement, Pirdoğan Amed was born into a patriotic family in the province of Amed (Diyarbakir). Before him, many members of his family had already joined the Kurdish liberation movement. Pirdoğan Amed was known for his strong ties to his companions and participated in and led numerous actions and retaliatory attacks against the Turkish army's occupation attempts in his last area of operation, Avashin. HPG described the fighter as a "pioneer of the modern guerrilla" who succeeded in becoming an exemplary militant through courage, selflessness and diligence.
Şoreş Botan was born in Van. He grew up in an environment that corresponded to the traditional resistance culture of the Serhad region and witnessed the state's "counterinsurgency" as a child. According to the HPG, the fact that some members of his family had been martyred in the liberation movement was crucial to his decision to join the Kurdistan Revolution. He showed remarkable skills in the military arts, and his life testified to a unique Apoist courage. In the Medya Defense Zones, Şoreş Botan last fought at Ciloyê Pîçuk in the Zap region against the occupation attacks of the Turkish army. He joined the "Caravan of Martyrs" as a result of a bombardment of his combat area.
HPG offered their condolences to the relatives of the two martyrs and the patriotic people of Kurdistan, saying, "We promise to carry the flag of resistance handed over to us by our friends to victory."
