Two injured as Iraqi soldiers open fire on people protesting in Shengal

Shengal people protesting against Turkish attacks were attacked by Iraqi forces.

Young people took to the streets in the Sinune town of the Yazidi settlement Shengal (Sinjar) in protest at the attacks of the Turkish army and the silence of the Iraqi central government.

Soldiers of the Iraqi army opened fire on the crowd. According to initial information, at least two people were injured as a result of the attack; Ednan Hemed and Cira TV and Jinha correspondent Nesrin Hesen who has been hospitalized and is receiving treatment.

On December 11, Turkey bombed the People’s Council building in the Khanasor town of Shengal. The attack came shortly after the targeted killing of Shengal Autonomous Administration Executive Council Co-Chair Merwan Bedel in a Turkish drone attack in Khanasor on December 7.
