Turkish army soldiers have a resident of the village of Barman (tr. Yesilalan) in the Savur district of Mardin province on Friday. Soldiers cordoned off the village early in the morning and entered a house. The owner, Mehmet Hüseyin Günay, had been arrested in Barman on 20 October along with three other people. His son Metin Günay was also detained and taken away today. A military operation is taking place in the region, and Metin Günay is said to have been taken to the operation area by the soldiers. There is no information about his whereabouts.
The village remains under military siege. On 20 October, the governor of Mardin ordered a one-day curfew in Barman and Elfan (Pınardere). After that, a special unit of the gendarmerie (military police) surrounded the two villages and, with the help of dogs, entered the houses. The houses were searched and destroyed, and the residents were threatened.
