Vigil in Shengal to defend the Autonomous Administration and structures reached day 67.
The vigil organised by residents in front of the Asayîşh Êzîdxanê building to protest the agreement between Hewler and Baghdad which threatens the dissolution of the region's self-governing structures entered day 67.
On 9 October 2020, Hewler signed an agreement with the Iraqi central government to reinstall its rule in the region. The agreement includes the closure of the region's self-defense and security forces.
Stating that they have resisted for two months to defend their will, a young man named Xeyrî Hecî told ANHA: “Our people are claiming their will with this meaningful resistance. The silence of the Iraqi government means that it is a partner in the 9 October agreement."
Drawing attention to the crimes of the invading Turkish state, Xeyrî Hecî said: “The Turkish state has always wanted to destroy the Yazidi community, just look at history. But we have always resisted the attacks of the invading Turkish state and now we continue our resistance.”
