The command of the Shengal Resistance Units (Yekîneyên Berxwedana Şengalê) said in a statement that one of its fighters, Demhat Ereb, died in an accident in Behrewa on 2 August 2024. According to the statement, the YBŞ fighter's real name was Ali Hidir Zaher Abdulla, and he was Arab.
The YBŞ command stated that as a young Arab, Demhat Ereb had worked for the building of a democratic nation and the stability of the region. Since the day he joined the resistance units founded in Shengal after the ISIS massacre in 2014, he had fulfilled his duty unconditionally and successfully and assumed responsibility. His death is a great loss for the YBŞ and the population.
"We express our condolences to the family of our comrade Demhat and repeat our words to our fallen soldiers: We will continue their fight. We will fight until victory for their dream of an autonomous and free Shengal."
