Fighters of the YBŞ (Shengal Resistance Units) and YJŞ (Shengal Women’s Units), the only self defense force of the Shengal Êzidîs, stressed that nobody should have empty dreams and they now have a force of resistance and freedom that can void all invasion attempts and dirty plots. The fighters spoke to the ANF and assessed the situation.

SERHED: SHENGAL IS NOT UNPROTECTED ANYMORE

Sidar Serhed:

“A new genocide is planned for through the colonialist states. Since the August 3 genocide, we have defended Shengal and we grow with each passing day. Our people’s faith and loyalty grows every day. They know that Shengal is no longer unprotected and their own children will defend them to the end. That is why they didn’t leave Shengal in the latest threats of attacks and invasion like in other places. Because the defeated, intimidated, fearful Êzidîs of the past are not there anymore. With our resistance of 3 years, a new spirit and a new consciousness has been created. Our people now trust in themselves, transcend fragmentalism and leave behind individual accounts. And most importantly, they now see better who their friends are and who betray them.”

GIMGIM: THEY ABANDONED THE CITY IN ONE NIGHT

Avaşin Gımgım:

“On the night the Hashd al-Shaabi turned towards Shengal, the KDP left the city without firing a single bullet. The next morning, we saw that the KDP positions were handed over to Hashd al-Shaabi. A new genocide was being planned. Shengal was to be invaded. But we foiled that plan by not leaving Shengal. And as they knew that if they targeted the whole of Shengal except for the KDP positions, we would resist and fight until the end, they couldn’t advance too far. But the danger hasn’t been overcome yet. Any force that ignores or that doesn’t recognize the will of this people, will have us to deal with.”

ŞİYAR: THIS PEOPLE HAS AN ARMY NOW

Ekin Şiyar:

“We will grow the defense line until all the threats have been eliminated and a free future completely based on the will of the people has been built. We as the YJŞ fighters took our place in the Shengal resistance. We continue our preparations in our positions. We were aware of the danger, we aren’t very surprised. Our command center had repeatedly warned all the forces. In this sense, we were prepared. Yes, their colors, names, words may be different, but all the forces have a common goal. They want to rule over this people and to control them. These are forces that ignore the will, culture and faith of the people and even try to dismiss them. It was like that before ISIS as well. ISIS imposed that through more vile methods, and that is what is attempted now. But we will no longer allow for those plans to achieve results. Now, this people has an army. The YBŞ-YJŞ are here. Whatever and whoever poses a danger, we will defend this people to the end. We will no longer hand over our identity, our faith or our land to the invaders and traitors. We will grow the line of defense until a free future is guaranteed. In this basis, all youth should join the ranks of the YBŞ in such a historic process, and defend their lands. We must not allow those who want to repeat the suffering of the past.”
