Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) Official Spokesperson Xebat Şengali spoke to ANF on the latest updates from Shilo highland and Shengal in general.

Xebat Şengali noted that YBŞ/YJŞ forces fought against ISIS gangs with limited access to weapons, resources, and the support of the international coalition warplanes.

Şengali emphasized that YBŞ/YJŞ forces took major steps after the March of 2016 and liberated the villages of İmcires and Mediba. He pointed out that they were the only force resisting at the trenches and participating in the liberation operation. Şengali stated that the gangs attacked Shilo highland and its villages 7 times because of its strategic importance, but failed to seize the highland. He added that YBŞ/YJŞ forces killed more than 200 gangs and seized many guns and ammunition.

'WE ARE THE ONLY FORCE IN DEFENSE'

Regarding the black propaganda on what has recently been going on in Shilo highland, Şengali said that some people are in panic like the one people experienced at the beginning of ISIS occupation. YBŞ Spokesperson stated that those that disseminate such rumors are no different than ISIS gangs and aim to defame the YBŞ publicly and create unrest. “However, our people have reached a level of consciousness and do not believe in such statements and practices”, he added.

Şengali emphasized that there was no force but the YBŞ/YJŞ in Shilo highland, and the YBŞ/YJŞ was the only force in defense of Shilo highland and west of Mount Shengal.

Şengali noted that the YBŞ/YJŞ forces were ready to sacrifice their lives for Êzidîxan, and would fight in defense of their land until the last fighter remained. He stated that everyone should know that the YBŞ/YJŞ were the defense force of not only Mount Shengal but also the entire region.

Lastly, YBŞ Spokesperson Xebat Şengali called upon everyone who view themselves as a human rights defender to return to Êzidîxan and protect the resistance.
