Rojava Free Press Union and the Union of Intellectuals and Writers held a demonstration in Qamishlo with the motto 'YPG is our will' as a response to the circles running a smear campaign against the YPG, mainly from Turkey and those acting with Turkey.

Representatives from Kongre Star and the Bureau for Solidarity with Peoples joined the demonstration held at the square covered with the posters of fallen YPG fighters at the Antaria Junction in Qamishlo. Internationalist YPG fighters from the US, Canada, Britain, Finland, Spain, Greece, Germany and France also joined the demonstration.

“WE ARE THE YPG”

Çekdar, an internationalist YPG fighter from the US, stated that they wound confront those running a smear campaign against the YPG.

Çekdar remarked that he joined the YPG because it is the only force trying to liberate peoples by fighting the ISIS; a menace to the world. Çekdar noted that some of his friends joined the YPG for the same reason and they fell as martyrs, adding: "YPG has offered a different world and life. It fights the barbaric gangs that have become a menace to peoples. YPG does not only fight for the Kurds but also for other peoples of the world. This is why I and many other friends joined the YPG, which is us, all of us. Those speaking against the YPG speak against us and our people because many from different peoples have shed their blood inside the YPG. We will confront those who want to stain the YPG's reputation.”

Çekdar called upon the people, firstly the families of YPG martyrs, to raise their voices against this smear campaign and injustice.

“LETS OPPOSE TURKEY'S SMEAR CAMPAIGN”

Şiyar, an internationalist YPG fighter from Spain, stated that the YPG is fighting barbarism by siding with all oppressed and those otherized and left without identity. Şiyar said this is why Turkey and itd collaborators are standing against the YPG, and called upon all the oppressed, exploited and otherized to oppose the smear campaign of Turkey that is headed for one-man's dictatorship.
