YPJ fighters Binevş Tolhildan and Zilan Herekol emphasized the importance of "Operation Liberate North Raqqa" and said that they were fighting the dirt of thousands of years. The fighters highlighted the gendercide of ISIS and said that YPJ forces would overcome against the enemies of humanity.

TOLHİLDAN: THEY SET UP A SPECIAL ASAYISH UNIT TO TAKE WOMEN HOSTAGE

Tolhildan emphasized ISIS gangs’ approach to women in the areas they occupy, and recalled that women are not allowed to leave their houses without the accompany of their fathers, brother and spouses, and are forced to cover themselves from head to toe.

Tolhildan stated that the gangs’ policies also target men, and there are special Asayish units that inspect the way men dress and adhere to Sharia laws. The YPJ fighter emphasized that ISIS set up a special Asayish unit called ‘El Hansa Brigade’ composed of gangs’ wives to take women hostage and inspect the way women dress in public spaces. Tolhildan noted that wives of dead ISIS gangs were married off to other gangs and are used as ‘sex slaves.’

HEREKOL: RESISTANCE WITH AN IDEOLOGICAL SPIRIT OF SACRIFICE

Herekol underlined that YPJ fighters were fighting ISIS with an ideological spirit of sacrifice, and their will grew stronger through resistance. The YPJ fighter noted that they were fighting the dirt of thousands of years, and would overcome in the face of ISIS.

Lastly, Herekol stated that ISIS gangs’ sole purpose was to attack the union and freedom of peoples, and said that no religion permitted the massacre of prisoners, women and children.
