ISIS cells have been conducting ever-increasing attacks against the Syrian Democratic Forces in Deir ez-Zor region in recent weeks.
One of the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) fighters was martyred and another wounded in a treacherous attack carried out by ISIS cells on May 19. The attack was directed against one of the SDF’s checkpoints in the town of Al-Bahra, located in the Hajeen district, Deir ez-Zor’s eastern countryside.
“These repeated terrorist attacks underscore the difficult challenges our forces face and reaffirm the critical importance of our mission to eliminate terrorism at its roots and uphold security and stability throughout the region,” said the SDF Press Center.
The SDF reiterated their steadfast commitment to protecting civilians and relentlessly pursuing the remnants of ISIS cells: “We emphasize the vital role of collaboration and coordination with local communities to safeguard the hard-won gains achieved through the sacrifices of our martyrs.”
The SDF vowed that their struggle will continue until sustainable peace and stability are established across all areas.
