135 Armenian soldiers killed in recent clashes with Azerbaijan

The death toll from both sides has surged to over 200.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on Friday that at least 135 Armenian soldiers have been killed in clashes with Azerbaijan this week.

In a statement on Friday, Armenian PM Pashinyan said that the death toll had risen to 135.

“Unfortunately, this is not the final figure. There are also many injured,” he added.

The death toll from both sides has surged to over 200.

Azerbaijan reported in a recent statement that its 71 troops had died.

The fighting broke out on Tuesday after Azerbaijan had heavily bombed many parts of Armenia.

Russia, the traditional mediator country in this region, announced a ceasefire as of Tuesday morning, which was, however, violated.

According to the Armenian National Security Council, the fighting ceased late on Wednesday night following the intervention of the international community.

The European Union said in a statement on Thursday that both countries abided by the ceasefire.

In a statement on Wednesday, Armenian authorities revealed that Azerbaijan occupied 10 square kilometres of territory in Armenia.
