16 soldiers died, nine wounded in recent operations

In a statement on recent operations and clashes on 10-12 June, People’s Defense Forces Press Office HPG-BIM reported that 16 soldiers died and nine others were wounded in clashes in Þemdinli, Çukurca and Beytüþþebap.

One soldier died and one other was wounded in clashes between Turkish soldiers and HPG guerrillas in Þabana region of Þýrnak on 10 June. The Turkish army operation and clashes expanded on 11 June when three soldiers died and one other was wounded in the operation in Gire Goniyê, Gire Kerkûl and Meydan Zengîlê area, reported HPG-BIM.

Five soldiers died and four were wounded in separate clashes that broke out as a result of an operation by soldiers from the Girana military post in Þemdinli district of Hakkari on 12 June, noted the statement and added that four out of five dead soldiers were specialist sergeants.

The statement also reported that three guerrillas lost their life in an operation in Çukurca district of Hakkari on 10 June. The names of three guerrillas were reported to be Viyan Cudi code named Xece Brukimilan, Zerin Zilan code named Besra Delayimilan and Mazlum Amed code named Ayetullah Kandemir.

The operation in the area was followed by a guerrilla action which targeted a special military unit taking part in the operation, reported HPG-BIM and added that six soldiers died and three others were wounded in the action.

Separate clashes broke out near Karataþ military post in Çukurca where one soldier was wounded on 12 June, stated HPG-BIM and noted that the villages of Erbîþ, Þifreza and Cennetê in Zap region were targeted by Turkish army with howitzers and mortal bombs.

On the other hand, four soldiers were wounded in clashes on the mountain of Kato near Beytüþþebap district of Þýrnak on 13 June.
