21 associations demand Rojava airspace be banned from flying to prevent massacre and genocide.
21 associations issued a statement to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Rojava Revolution and demanded the region's airspace to be closed to "prevent attacks and genocide."
The statement said: "The Rojava Revolution took place in 2011 and has since then provided an environment of incredible freedom for all peoples and beliefs in the Rojava region. Women's liberation, protection of nature, equality and coexistence became the main agendas of the revolution. The Rojava region showed tremendous progress in the Middle East and heroically resisted the region's reactionary states, especially stood against the darkness of ISIS, and protected the revolution and carried it to the present day.
The attacks by colonialist states are persistent and, obviously, the Turkish state led by the fascist Erdoğan-Bahçeli threatened to invade Rojava in recent months. This fascist regime, which previously occupied regions such as Afrin and Serikani and placed reactionary gangs affiliated with them, forced with massacres, torture, harassment and rape, hundreds of thousands of Kurdish people from the region to migrate and aimed to create a Kurdish-free region by changing the demographic structure of these areas."
The statement continued: "Imperialist capitalist countries such as the United States, the European Union and Russia, by playing the three monkeys in the light of the Turkish state's genocide policy, are forcing the people of Rojava to submit to the latest threats.
While Russia forced the Rojava revolutionary forces to pledge allegiance to the Syrian state, the US and the EU were forced to obey the Turkish state, which is a NATO ally, and thereby give up on a democratic and free life.
However, a war not only means occupation of a piece of land, but also displacement of thousands of innocent civilians, forcing them to migrate, murdering them, and condemning them to hunger and poverty.
While the people of Rojava and the revolutionary forces do not bow to any pressure or threat, they strengthen their own self-defense against a possible invasion and attack."
The statement underlined that "despite the unequal power relations, just like in the Kobane resistance, the international stance of the peoples of the world should stand up today and stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Rojava and thereby can nullify the invasion plans of the fascist Turkish state.
We see the struggle of Rojava as our own struggle. Because the Rojava revolution is the revolution of those who want freedom and equality for a livable world. The Rojava revolution is a women's revolution, an example of a life in harmony with nature.
For this reason, we support the campaign launched by 33 political parties from Rojava to impose a flight ban on military use of Rojava airspace. We call on all people and immigrants living in Europe, all forces in favor of democracy and humanity to be a part of the campaign, so that, with the spirit of solidarity, plans of attacks and threats of war and occupation cannot be realized."
The statement ended by inviting everyone to "participate in marches and demos to be held in many parts of Europe on July 23rd, and to unite our voices in the Hashtag action that will start at 7pm European time."
