3-day sit-in against the isolation of Öcalan launched in London

The Kurdish People's Assembly in London started a 3-day sit-in protest in front of the Prime Ministry building to draw attention to the absolute isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Members of the Revolutionary Youth Movement in Britain are participating in the sit-in in front of the Prime Minister's Office building in Downing Street where a stand was set up, covered with the images of Abdullah Öcalan.

During the sit-in, in which pennants reading 'Freedom for Öcalan' in many languages are displayed, slogans such as "Long Live Öcalan", "Freedom for Öcalan", "Yesterday Mandela, today Öcalan" are frequently chanted.

During the demonstration, leaflets are distributed to passers-by about the absolute isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and his role in the peaceful solution of the Kurdish question.

The co-chairs of the Kurdish People's Assembly, Türkan Budak and İshak Milani, made speeches emphasising that the absolute isolation of Abdullah Öcalan is inhumane and unlawful. They pointed out that Abdullah Öcalan is the only person who offers a systemic and consistent project for peace in the Middle East.

The activists pointed out that the war in Kurdistan is intensifying every day because of the lack of a stance against the Turkish fascist regime and called on the British state to take sanctions and a tough stance against the Erdoğan regime. The speakers emphasised that the isolation system imposed on Abdullah Öcalan for 25 years, the lack of any news from the Kurdish leader for 4 years and the prevention of family and lawyer visits are not acceptable to the Kurdish people. They underlined that the silence of the CPT and the Council of Europe does not fit any democratic principles and morals.

The sit-in in front of the British Prime Ministry building will continue for 3 days between 13:00 and 17:00.
