3 more die after being kept waiting at border

3 more wounded persons from Kobanê have lost their lives as a result of the Turkish state’s attitude of turning the transfer of the wounded to Suruç into an issue of negotiation.

Turkish officials are continuing their arbitrary attitude towards transferring to Suruç the people from Kobanê wounded in clashes with ISIS gangs. A large group of wounded were kept waiting on the other side of the border for hours because of the irresponsibility of Turkish officials who prevent the border crossings by using a different pretext each time, although there are no clashes taking place at the Mursitpınar border gate, which is the only link Kobanê has with the outside world.

While 3 of those kept waiting at the border lost their lives due to loss of blood, the others were taken by ambulance to Suruç hospital after the border gate was opened hours later.

5 of those wounded are reported to be in a serious condition. While 1 has immediately been taken for surgery, 2 others were sent to another hospital.

Turkish officials closed the border gate last night on the pretext of the assassination of a chief police official in Bingöl. The Turkish authorities made ending protest actions a condition for allowing the wounded to cross the border, thereby turning the treatment of the wounded into an issue of negotiation.
