30 people arrested at funeral of artist Mir Perwer will remain in custody for extra 24 hours

The detention period of 30 people taken into custody at the funeral of artist Mir Perwer, who was murdered in Paris on 23 December, has been extended until Saturday.

Artist Mir Perwer (Mehmet Şirin Aydın), who was killed in the armed attack on the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Center in Paris on 23 December, was buried under a police blockade on Thursday after his remains were abducted by police.

The gendarmes attacked the people protesting because they had been left outside the village and were not allowed to attend the funeral. 31 people, including a lawyer, were taken into custody during the gendarmerie attack.

While the lawyer was released after he gave his statement, the detention period of the other 30 people was extended until Saturday.
