Police have raided a number of houses in Edremit district of Van early Friday morning. Five youths including DBP (Party of Democratic Regions) Erciş District Youth Assembly member were taken into custody.

While the reason for the detentions was not immediately clear, the detainees were taken to Van police headquarters.

On the other hand, one out of five people who were detained as a result of house raids in Mardin yesterday, dialysis patient Mehmet Demirtaş was released after procedures at police headquarters.

The other four who are accused of involvement in YDG-H (Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement) remain in custody at Mardin provincial police headquarters.
