7 demonstrators and a journalist detained in Istanbul

Turkish police continue brutal aggressions against mothers and relatives of prisoners on hunger strike.

Mothers and relatives of political prisoners who are on hunger strike or death fast demanding the end of the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, continue taking to the streets across Turkey and North Kurdistan in solidarity with their children who are in critical health conditions and nearing death.

Prisoners’ relatives formed a “Chain of Life” in Eminönü district of Istanbul on Friday to urge Turkish authorities to take a step to make sure that hunger strike activists do not lose their lives.

During the demonstration, the relatives chanted “Remove the isolation, let Leyla live” and “Long live our honorable resistance”.

Demonstrators ended their protest following a march and they were taken into custody by the police as they started to disperse.

7 demonstrators and journalist Zeynep Kuray were detained in the crackdown and then taken to Sirkeci Police Station.
