According to a report by Göç Vakfý (Foundation of Immigration), 98 children died and 108 were wounded in Turkey in the months of January, February and March. The report also covered the sexual abuse accusation in Pozantý prison.
The report emphasizes that the government in Turkey ignores the Child Rights Convention signed 17 years ago and that the basic rights of the children are violated by government and/or other mechanisms. It is pointed out in the report that the armed conflicts and obligatory immigrations damaged children especially in the last 20 years, a fact supported by statistical data. According to data by the Human Rights Association (ÝHD) 433 children were killed by law enforcement agencies between 1988 and 2011.
The report states that 52 children were taken into custody and 28 were charged in the last three months, most of whom are from the Kurdish areas of Turkey.
